IMA Lucknow Hosts State-Level Refresher Course and CME on World Health Day

Lucknow: Indian Medical Association Lucknow successfully organised a state-level refresher course and Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on the occasion of World Health Day at the IMA Bhawan in Lucknow. The day-long academic event witnessed enthusiastic participation from doctors and healthcare professionals across Uttar Pradesh.

The programme commenced at 9:00 AM, while the formal inauguration was held at 1:20 PM. The event was graced by Dr. Rajeev Goyal, President of IMA Uttar Pradesh, as the Chief Guest. Among the distinguished attendees were President-elect Dr. Ravish Agarwal and Vice President (Zone-3) Dr. V.K. Tripathi.

IMA Lucknow President Dr. Manoj Kumar Asthana stated that the primary objective of the refresher course and CME was to update medical practitioners with the latest advancements in clinical practice and to promote continuous learning across various specialties.

The scientific sessions were conducted under the guidance of Scientific Chairman Dr. Sanjay Srivastava, while Scientific Secretary Dr. Archika Gupta coordinated the programme. Honorary Secretary Dr. Shweta Srivastava efficiently anchored and managed the event proceedings.

The CME featured expert lectures and panel discussions on a wide range of contemporary medical topics, including menstrual hygiene and nutrition in adolescent girls, male infertility management, continuous glucose monitoring systems, myths surrounding depression, cancer pain management, neurological disorders and low back pain, pediatric abdominal issues, and advances in medical education.

Key discussions also covered chronic kidney disease (CKD) identification and staging, renal replacement therapy (RRT), spine surgery advancements, joint replacement, missed injuries, soft skills in medical practice, pulmonary and tuberculosis updates, robotic urology, cardiac surgery innovations, diabetes management including oral semaglutide, vitamin D supplementation, burn care, alopecia, comprehensive insurance for doctors and hospitals, childhood myopia, diabetic retinopathy, informed consent, postpartum hemorrhage management, and the family medicine team concept.
